Glasgow’s summer festivals are hugely varied; there’s everything from Shakespeare to samba, and piping to Pride. We’ve picked out a few of Glasgow’s best summer festivals. You don’t even need your wellies at most of them.
Tuesday 10th November – Saturday 14th November: Russian giants Derevo and Akhe come together for the first time in the UK to present a world premiere spectacular promenade performance, possessing every darkened corner and crevice of the Arches vaults.
25th November 2009: Lily Allen will be bringing her own unique style and music to Glasgow’s SECC for one night, this November.
7th October 2009: Australian singer-songwriter Daniel Merriweather is performing in Glasgow for one night only this October.
4th October 2009: Grammy Award-nominated downtempo styled music duo, Zero 7, are heading to Glasgow’s ABC this October as part of their current UK tour
Wednesday 7th October 2009: Voices for Hospices is a wave of simultaneous concerts around the globe which takes place in celebration of World Hospice and Palliative Care Day every two years.
Saturday 18th July 2009: This year the Loch Lomond Highland Games are returning to their original venue in Moss o’ Balloch Park, in the heart of the village of Balloch.
18th August 2009: Rock legends U2 are playing in Scotland for one night only, in Glasgow’s Hampden Park.
21st – 24th July 2009: The Sound Institute are offering music workshops this summer in Cardonald College, Glasgow, for ages 4 – 20 yrs.
Wednesday 15th July 2009: Flo Rida’s tour is in support of his latest album, and will feature many of the songs from R.O.O.T.S. He is performing just once in Scotland this year, at Glasgow’s O2 Academy, so book your tickets now to avoid missing out!
28th – 30th August 2009: Following two sell-out years, Retrofest has further stretched its spandex offerings as it returns for 2009 with a line-up that spans over three decades in music.
13th July 2009: See Ne-Yo, the multi-award winning American R&B and pop singer/songwriter at the Glasgow SECC, his one and only Scottish date on the Year of the Gentleman tour.
30th June 2009: After selling more than half a million Black Ice Tour tickets in their native Australia, AC/DC are heading over the pond to the UK, with just one date set in Glasgow, Hampden Stadium.
