Alkaline Trio, the High-energy melodic cult rockers from Illinois are back! Coming to Glasgow’s O2 Academy on 30th July 2024.

With multiple world tours and numerous chart successes under their belts. Alkaline Trio have cemented their legacy as one of dark punk’s greatest forces.

Alkaline Trio were formed in Chicago in 1996 by guitarist Matt Skiba, bassist Rob Doran and drummer Glenn Porter. All three shared vocal duties on their first EP Sundials, which arrived in 1997. Shortly after, Doran left the group and was replaced by Dan Andriano from the punk-ska band Slapstick.

In the two decades that followed their 1998 debut album Goddamnit, Alkaline Trio went on to release eight more records. These were full of their signature dry wit and sing-along choruses. They broke into the top 40 of the UK albums chart with 2003’s Good Mourning and not to mention, 2005’s Crimson. While 2010’s This Addiction reached No.11 on the Billboard Top 200.

The line-up changed again in 2000, with Porter leaving and drummer Derek Grant (ex-The Suicide Machines) coming on board.

In 2011, the trio issued Damnesia featuring a selection of fan favorites. This included the hits Private Eye, Mercy Me and We’ve Had Enough. They were chosen from their extensive catalogue and recorded in a semi-unplugged format.

In 2020, Alkaline Trio unveiled a surprise three-track EP simply titled E.P. containing the singles Minds Like Minefields, Radio Violence and Smokestack. To support it, the band announced a co-headline UK tour alongside fellow cult emo-punks Taking Back Sunday for early March 2022.

In June 2023, Atom Willard replaced Grant, and the band soon after announced their next album, Blood, Hair And Eyeballs. The record was released in January 2024 alongside news of a major 2024 headline tour.
