Blind Guardian are a German power metal quartet. Coming to Glasgow’s SWG3 Galvanizers on 12th April 2024.

Pioneers of the power metal sub-genre. Blind Guardian formed in the early 80s as Lucifer’s Heritage. Before changing their name upon the release of their debut album, Battalions of Fear, in 1988. With Hansi Kürsch and André Olbrich still at the helm, the band now also features Frederik Ehmke and Marcus Siepen.

Blind Guardian are famously inspired by the fantasy and epic fiction of J.R.R Tolkein, George R. R. Martin and Stephen King, which, over the years, has earnt them the moniker The Bards.

Some of the band’s best loved albums include Somewhere Far Beyond (1992), Imaginations from the Other Side (1995), Nightfall in Middle-Earth (1998), and A Night at the Opera (2002).

Blind Guardian’s 12th studio album, The God Machine, was released in September 2022 and included the songs ‘Deliver Us From Evil’ and ‘Blood Of The Elves.’
