Renee Rap is the rapidly rising pop star and Broadway actor. Coming to Glasgow’s O2 Academy on 25th February 2024.

Renee Rapp made her name on Broadway, but she’s always wanted to be a popstar. She’s described watching American Idol as a kid, and having to switch it off because she was sick with jealousy. So whether it’s hitting the studio between auditions or after long days on TV sets, Rapp has been on a single-minded path to make that dream a reality. The songs she writes are starkly honest about mental health, sexuality and heartbreak. Delivered with her uniquely powerful voice, they prove she has star power in more ways than one.

Growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina, Rapp’s journey began in high school theatre. Where she won a 2018 National High School Musical Theatre Award — or a Jimmy. For her performance in a production of Big Fish. That win launched her onto the national stage, landing her a leading role as Regina George in the Mean Girls Broadway musical the following year. In 2020, she was cast as the leading role of Leighton in the HBO Max series The Sex Life of College Girls, marking her TV debut. The show was renewed for a third season in 2022.

2022

In June 2022, Renee Rapp announced her signing to Interscope Records and released her debut single, “Tattoos”. The piano ballad announced her as a moving, vulnerable songwriter. Capable of capturing the most painfully relatable mundanities of love and loss. In November 2022, she released her debut EP, Everything to Everyone. Here, she demonstrated an impressive range. From the naked confession of ‘In The Kitchen’ to the big pop swagger of ‘Too Well’. ‘Don’t Tell My Mom’ is a tender meditation on her own mental health. Whereas ‘What Can I Do’ is a cut of queer yearning.

Alongside the EP release, Rapp announced her first US headlining tour for December of 2022, which sold out in two minutes. In January 2023, her first UK show at London’s Lafayette got a similar treatment, leading to two venue upgrades — ultimately ending up at O2 Forum Kentish Town.

In February 2023, she released a deluxe version of Everything to Everyone, featuring two new tracks. She is also set to reprise the role of Regina George in the upcoming Mean Girls: The Musical movie.
