Sleaford Mods are the brutally authentic rap-punk duo formed in Nottingham. Coming to Glasgow’s O2 Academy on 23rd November 2023.

It’s no surprise that rap-punk duo Sleaford Mods are having a moment. No punches are pulled either live or on record and not one inch of their rhetoric. Alternately cheeky and blood-and-guts, occasionally both – is inauthentic or posed. There are real deals and there are Sleaford Mods.

Thrown out of school and disdainful of the options presented to him, frontman Jason Williamson forged his own path. Acting didn’t happen, but resorting to the guitar opened all sorts of windows. A move from Grantham to Nottingham brought session gigs for Spiritualised and Bent. As well as a meeting with Andrew Fearn in 2009, which expanded Sleaford Mods from a stage name to a duo.

Armed with a drum machine, rudimentary basslines and Williamson’s seemingly boundless rage and disgruntlement, the duo released their first EP together in 2012 and their debut album, Austerity Dogs, in 2013. Buoyed by great reviews and hugely successful tours, the band quickly set about a follow-up, with the acclaimed Divide & Exit coming a year later. Williamson’s disillusioned, frustrated, alienated rants found the minute sliver on the Venn diagram of profound and profane, certifying the band as unafraid truth-tellers, the last sane men in a world gone mad.

This trend continued through 2015’s Key Markets, after which the band signed to Rough Trade for the T.C.R. EP and the 2017 album English Tapas. They then struck out to create their own label Extreme Eating, which issued the Eton Alive album in 2019.

In January 2021 the band announced a brand new UK tour in support of new album Spare Ribs.
